General

The covers in Ramat Gan are usually made of metal or concrete , but there are also covers made of plastic (composite materials) .
The shapes of the covers are square , round , rectangular , or elliptical .
When round covers are intended for sidewalks, they are surrounded by a square frame, which greatly facilitates paving work around them (these are, in fact, almost all of the square covers in the city).

No colored covers were found in Ramat Gan. The number of golden covers is relatively high, and it seems that this was done at the municipality’s request .

Covers intended for the Ramat Gan Municipality usually bear the city’s emblem or the inscription “Ramat Gan Municipality” .
Many covers are designated for the “Mei Ramat Gan” water corporation, which serves the city .

As in other cities in Israel, a relatively large number of covers designated for other cities were found (the “bug” category) , as well as covers belonging to water corporations other than “Mei Ramat Gan”, such as one belonging to Petah Tikva’s water corporation “Mei Tikva” .

The covers at the Tel Hashomer (“Sheba”) Medical Center bear the hospital’s emblem , while those in the Ramat Gan National Park bear the emblem of Ramat Gan but include an inscription indicating that the cover belongs to the National Park .

There are also covers intended for consumers who are not necessarily municipalities or local councils. These covers are not city-specific and can be found throughout Israel—for example, covers for Bezeq , Israel Post , and others.

The purpose of each cover usually appears on it (sewage , water , electricity , etc.), so the number of covers in the “unknown” category is very small.

A significant number of covers in Ramat Gan bear the year of manufacture .

Generally, the design of Ramat Gan’s covers is not unique and corresponds to typical designs used by manufacturers. It should be noted that in Ramat Gan, the city’s emblem usually appears prominently on most covers, occupying much of their surface .
Very small water covers were also found in Ramat Gan (and in the neighboring city of Givatayim ) , as well as another type more common in Israel .

Manufacturers
The manufacturer’s name usually appears on the covers. Most covers are produced in Israel by several leading manufacturers—Menashe Baruch , Vulcan Foundries , A. Talitmacher , and others.
Covers made by manufacturers outside Israel were also found, mainly those used for irrigation control .

Standards
The cover standards include Israeli-specific ones (the Standards Institute of Israel mark and the IS 489 standard, equivalent to the international EN124 standard) .
In addition, the international EN124 and various load classes (A50 - D400) were found. International standards were mainly found on covers produced by international manufacturers .
