General

The manhole covers in Rishon LeZion are generally made of metal or concrete , and their shape may be square , round , or rectangular .
In many cases, when round covers are intended for sidewalks, they are surrounded by a square frame, which greatly facilitates the paving work around them (these are in fact most of the square covers).

The manhole covers in Rishon LeZion are not colored. Some gold-tinted covers were also found, mainly those produced by the manufacturer “Wolfman” .

Covers intended for the Rishon LeZion Municipality usually bear the municipal emblem or the words “Rishon LeZion Municipality” .
Many covers are intended for “Meniv Rishon”, the municipal water corporation serving the city .

As in other cities in Israel, a relatively large number of covers intended for other cities can be found (category “Bug”) .

There are also covers intended for consumers that are not necessarily municipalities or local councils. These covers are not tied to any particular city and can be found across Israel. For example, covers for the cable TV provider “Gvanim” , for Netivei Israel , and others.

The purpose of the cover is usually marked on it (Water , Communications , Sewage , etc.), so the number of covers in the “Unknown” category is relatively small.

On many of the covers in Rishon LeZion, the year of manufacture appears .

On a very large number of covers in Rishon LeZion, the city’s emblem appears in a large format. This is true for several manufacturers and seems to be a municipal instruction to the cover manufacturers , , . The same applies to the municipal water corporation .
The design of the other covers in the city is not unique and matches typical designs of the respective manufacturers.

Manufacturers
The manufacturer’s name usually appears on the covers, and most covers in Rishon LeZion are produced by Israeli leading manufacturers: Menashe Baruch , Vulcan Foundries , A. Telitmacher , and others.

Standards
The cover standards include Israel-specific standards (the Standards Institute certification mark and IS 489 standard, which corresponds to the international EN124 standard ).
In addition, the international EN124 standards and the various load classes (B125-D400) are used.
