Saint-Gobain PAm is a long-established enterprise established in France and currently operating worldwide. The name PAm is an acronym for Pont-à-Mousson, but to its customers the plant is also known as the "old lady".
The plant today provides lids to more than 100 capital cities and more than 1000 cities around the world.

Over the years, the following lid manufacturers have been acquired:

The manufacturer’s covers can be found in a very large number of countries, mainly in Europe (see the list of countries later on this page).
Most of the manufacturer’s covers are made of metal , and a smaller number are made of concrete .
The covers are round , square , or rectangular in shape.
This manufacturer also produces covers with special shapes: rectangles with one side having chamfered corners (mainly in the UK), and hexagonal covers .
Round covers intended for sidewalks are often surrounded by a square frame to facilitate paving work . This pattern characterizes a significant portion of the square covers made by the manufacturer.

Many covers feature the manufacturer’s logo (a bridge) , some accompanied by the manufacturer’s name , others showing only the name , and some displaying the full name PONT A MOUSSON .

No colored or gilded covers have been found from this manufacturer (there is a single cover with a gilded label).
City emblems appear on some covers (mainly at the request of local authorities) .

Many covers do not indicate their intended use. When such indication exists – water covers include the letter “W” or the word “water” in various languages (for example EAU in French) .
Drainage covers are characterized by drainage slots , sewer covers bear the word “sewer” (FOGNATURA, for example) in various languages , communication covers are marked with the name or logo of the telecommunications provider , and so on.

The year of manufacture is generally not shown on the cover.

Standards
The European standard EN124 and its associated load classes are found on many covers, with the most common load classes being B125 and D400 .
The French NF standard is also common , as well as the British Kitemark .
Since the manufacturer’s covers are intended for many countries, it is possible to find standards used in those countries – for example, the Spanish AENOR , the Austrian ÜA-Marking , the Polish IO-CERT , the Polish construction mark B , the Italian UNI , and others.

Typical covers
A large number of covers belong to the company’s brand series, which share a similar design: the INTER-AX and OPT-EMAX models , the Rexel model , , and Rexess , a cover with a spiderweb-like background , the AKSESS model , and Parxess .
There are also many covers with a studded background , and many with a pattern of rays emanating from a central circle .
Drainage covers come in a variety of slot patterns , including wave-shaped slots , , or jagged slots .
The manufacturer also has a diverse collection of small water covers .

Many covers are diagonal (square or rectangular covers composed of two triangles, opened by lifting one of the triangles) .

A special series, made in collaboration with Lisbon’s sewer company (Águas do Tejo Atlântico), is called “There Is Art in the Sewer” (Há Arte No Esgoto).
It was created for International Sanitation Day and features illustrations of famous places in Lisbon .

In addition, there are covers with unique designs: a whirlpool-like pattern , a map of the Earth , plant- or fish-like motifs , and many others, as can be seen at the bottom of the page.
