Colored or gilded lids have not been found in Belgium. Sometimes part of the lid was painted (usually blue in the case of water lids), but this was done after the lid was made, locally

City symbols do not appear on the lids, and the lid background usually consists of geometric shapes such as squares, diamonds and lines.
