On the cover:
THE AUDIENCE

Redemption? because they loved me? or loved me in my words
intelligent faces soulful pricked for the poetry

And that night a woman came in a dream Indian or black
aging alone the phrase "ghosts in her eyes"
"I’m a perfect case for attention," she said
So I was listening to her words pained dry fretful driven
writing them down for the poetry that disappears
She seemed flattered not realizing
the flat of the language its tundra
I was flattered too not realizing her own need
simply to speak
"Loaves of bread," she said

The next morning I saw loaves were love risen
their faces amazed that we know someone in dreams
wandering in tundra redeemed

-Richard Silberg
