The symbol in the center of the lid, children doing cartwheelers (Radschläger), is one of the symbols most closely associated with the city. It probably originates from a story that after the Battle of Wörringen (1288), in which Düsseldorf received city rights, the children of the city took to the streets in joy and did cartwheelers.
The lid is similar to another manhole cover made by the same manufacturer
