The covers are made of metal and are round or rectangular in shape.
Round covers intended for sidewalks are often surrounded by a square frame to facilitate paving work . This pattern characterizes a significant portion of the square covers produced by the manufacturer .
Nevertheless, there are cases where the paving is adapted to the shape of the cover .

The manufacturer’s name appears on all covers .

Gas covers with the letters FV (Fjernvarme – district heating), or with the corresponding logo

The European standard EN124 and its load classes are found on many covers, the most common being B125 and D400 .
Additional standards can also be found – the German TÜV Rheinland , the German DIN , and even the British Kitemark .
