The city promotes urban development with the slogan: Ashibetsu, the village where the stars fall (a motto that also appears in the city’s emblem - 星の降る里 あしべつ).
This is the reason for the series of caps with constellations on them.

The current lid symbolizes the constellation Sagittarius, a group named after Chiron - a centaur (half man, half horse) from Greek mythology, who points the bow towards the constellation "Scorpio"
